Safety bleed plugs facility for bleed off pressure shall be metal seat, blow-out proven and bleed off pressure by screwing it counter-clockwise. - Safety bleed plugs shall be designed for a pressure of 10000 PSI and shall be manufactured in A182 F44 6Mo material. Gearbox: - Where a gearbox fitted to a valve may be subject to high internal pressure in case of a stem leak, the gear box needs to be protected by, for instance, a blow-out plug to avoid pressure build-up. This vent arrangement must be made in a way preventing water or contaminants to enter the gearbox. - Gearbox housing shall be fully enclosed in weatherproof housing and lubricated for life. Housing material shall be cast or fabricated 316 SS (unpainted). The protection class shall be minimum EN 60529 IP 66. - Manually operated isolation valves shall be supplied with brackets, locking plates or other devices to allow the valves to be locked in the open or closed position, using padlocks Gland Design: - Recommended packing gland torque value should be specified on manufacturer drawings. The gland packing and gland shall be compressed independently of the stem nut such that rotation of the stem shall not impart forces into the gland or gland packing. Stem Design: - Secondary stem sealing (o-ring or lip seal) is required for valves 4” and bigger and pressure rating class 600 and higher. Exceptions are valve design with stuffing box. - Graphite fire seals shall not be considered as an effective additional seal. - Graphite containing seals shall not be used as primary seals for water injection systems or systems containing seawater including de-aerated seawater - Valve stem shall be one-piece wrought material (forged or hot rolled). Welded or threaded stem assembly shall not be used. Back Seat: - Globe valves and gate valves (excluding double expanding type) shall be provided with a back-seating facility to control stem seal leak. Insulated valves: - Valves shall be provided with extended stems or extended bonnets, if required due to insulation. Extended bonnets shall be of the same material as the valve body.
